Conference offers opportunity to learn vital ESG strategies

PETALING JAYA: Asia is facing growing problems such as water shortages, rising temperatures, damaged ecosystems and social inequality. But these challenges also create chances for positive change.

Across the region, people in government, business and communities are beginning to focus more on balancing economic growth with environmental and social needs.

At the heart of this transformation are the ideas, insights and innovations that will be shared this Nov 5 to 7 at the Sunway Resort Hotel.

Experts, investors, policymakers and sustainability professionals will come together at the Asia ESG Summit 2025 to shape the region’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda.

Among them is environment and waste-management specialist Dr Theng Lee Chong, who will speak about one of Asia’s most urgent concerns – water.

With a growing scarcity crisis threatening livelihoods and economies, Theng’s session on “Waste water management: Reusing water for resilience and sustainability” presents a timely, solutions-driven conversation.

The expert will discuss the urgent need for water conservation, strategies for mitigating the crisis, and the crucial roles of the public and private sectors in protecting and ensuring sustainable water use.

Participants will learn how technology, policy and cross-sector collaboration can drive resilience and safeguard water resources for future generations.

Equally compelling is the session led by TIME100 Climate leader 2023 and Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures member Esther An.

Titled “Harnessing nature-based solutions for climate change mitigation,” An’s session will explore the intersection of environmental restoration and business opportunity.

From reforestation to wetland restoration, An will examine how nature-based solutions can reduce climate-related risks and unlock value for the planet and the business’ balance sheet.

For those seeking to drive social impact from the inside out, Orbis Business School managing director Dennis Akkerman will present a step-by-step roadmap for planning, measuring, and communicating social value.
